The Hydrogen Embassy

What Is It?

An informal affiliation of committed citizens who believe that the implementation of a completely carbon-free, sustainable energy system based on hydrogen and electricity is the comprehensive solution to catastrophic climate change. The “hydricity” system will be a giant step forward in technological and economic development.

How Does One Become a Hydrogen Ambassador?

Simply read the book Smelling Land, the Hydrogen Defence against Climate Catastrophe, by Dr. David S. Scott and then give it away.  Further involvement is up to you.

The Ambassador Program Concept

We intend the Hydrogen Embassy Program to be “viral.” By giving away this seminal book with the clearly stated expectation that, once read, it will be passed on to someone else, its impact can be multiplied several fold. The knowledge and wisdom found in Smelling Land won’t spread sitting on a shelf.

Inside the front cover of each book, you’ll find a “Message in a Bottle” sticker. It’s like the proverbial message in a bottle thrown into the sea. The bottle will wash up on a different shore to deliver its message anew. We hope the concept will inspire others to launch many more “messages in bottles.”

Writing your name in the space provided will allow recipients to track a book’s journey and create a link among those who’ve read it. According to the theory of “six degrees of separation,” everyone’s cascading circle of friends, family, acquaintances and business associates can reach anyone in the world in six steps.

How can you get started as an Ambassador?

As an Ambassador you can purchase books at a discount. Inside each book you'll find the sticker and letter to personalize and distribute. We also offer distribution services. Contact us for more information.

How to Be Further Involved

  1. Urge your politicians and policy makers to implement Smelling Lands ideas.
  2. Meet and discuss Smelling Land with others who’ve read the book.
  3. “Blog” on the Smelling Land website, and post comments, questions, or discuss online.
  4. Provide links to other relevant websites or articles that they can be included on the Smelling Land website in such categories as (1) hydrogen technologies like buses, BMW hydrogen combustion engines, Japanese home applications, GM’s hydrogen car pilot project, etc. (2) Clean electrical generation news like wind, solar, nuclear etc. (3) other related topics. Send your suggestions to smelling@victoria1.gov.bc.ca
  5. Come up with your own innovative ways to pass on Smelling Land and its insights to those who you think will help, especially the world’s opinion leaders. Share these ideas with the Ambassadors and other interested parties by putting your suggestions on the Smelling Land website blog.

Ultimately, we hope the website becomes a virtual meeting place where ideas can be exchanged, new developments highlighted, questions answered and connections made: An embassy without the bricks.

You Can Make a Difference

We are all linked by those we know and by a common atmosphere. The way out of the climate change predicament is to become informed and ensure others are as well. No amount of individual effort or commitment is too small because it’s the collective effort that counts.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead
American Cultural Anthropologist (1901-1978
