Chapter 19 - Can Something Better Come Along?

Throughout history, people have used many different chemical currencies. Looking to the future, we’ve set out the rationale why, over the course of the 21st century, hydrogen will push aside such earlier chemical currencies as gasoline. Hydrogen will win because it’s lighter, cleaner, source-independent, inexhaustible, ideal for most fuelcells and better for internal combustion engines (when they are designed to exploit hydrogen’s properties). We won’t be going back to gasoline.
