Chapter 8 - The Gods of Energy Planning Foolishness

No doubt our future will continue with a full complement of foolish innovations, investments and legislation—there are no obvious signs that we’re getting wiser than our ancestors. Yet I hope some foolishness can be deflected by applying our five parameters as a ‘go, no-go’ test before proceeding. For a time horizon of a half-century or longer, you’ll find these tests lead to the increasing use of energy currencies that can be manufactured from any energy source - and, in particular, from carbon-free sources. And therefore lead to the twin currencies, hydrogen and electricity.
